Pomeranians are little but powerful. These little pups are 3-7 pounds, making them the smallest of the spitz (or Scandinavian) dog breeds, but they have the temperament of a much larger canine. Poms, as they are often known by fans of the breed, are bright and energetic.
Its long coat, which is notably voluminous on the neck and chest, can be white, black, brown, or reddish brown in colour. The Pomeranian is approximately 6 to 7 inches (15 to 18 cm) height at the withers and weighs approximately 3 to 7 pounds (1.5 to 3 kg).
Pomeranians are relatively easy to train. While training a Pom, consistency and patience are crucial. Focus on house-training your dog immediately soon so he doesn't develop any undesirable behaviours that are difficult to break. Also, socialise puppies with diverse individuals and in varied environments to help them overcome their proclivity to bark at strangers.
Brave, alert, vivacious, and loving. They might seem stubborn at times but they're extremely efficient. Pomeranians are known for their strong and vibrant personalities. Their personality dwarfs their little stature. They make good watch dogs and are affectionate with their owners.
Pomeranians have a medium energy level that should not be underestimated due to their size. Kids should obtain at least one hour of physical activity per day, such as walking and playing with toys. They should also be able to run around freely every day (and they don't need much space to do so). Also, puzzle toys can assist Poms get the mental stimulation they require.
The Pomeranian has a long, thick double coat that must be groomed frequently. Poms also have larger seasonal sheds when the weather changes in the fall and spring, which means you'll have to brush them many times a week to keep up with the loose fur. Every four to six weeks, a bath and thorough brushing will be required.
While Poms perform well in the winter, their thick coat might lead them to overheat in the heat. Hence, despite their general endurance, limit outdoor activities to brief sessions in the heat. When outside, keep your Pom safe from predators such as large birds.
